*.ink files

I have been sent a file that has the extension ".ink" and I was wondering
what program reads these files. I have used MS Word, via XP Home Edition and
I keep getting an error message about not being able to find the necessary
program. What is the program that will read the ".ink extension?

This newsgroup concerns MS Access not windows generally

However since I'm typing, it's a LNK file, not INK. It's a Windows shortcut.
If windows can't find the target when you try to open the shortcut, it means
the target has been moved or deleted and you need to create a new shortcut.

Any further questions about this would be more suited to
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general.

"LNK" file is just a shortcut / a link to the actual file which you won't be
able to do much sine you need the actual file, not the "LNK" file. Go back
to the sender and ask him/her for the actual file, not the "link" file.

BTW, this newsgroup is for Microsoft Access (a database) application, NOT
general computer "access".

To add a little to Damien's and Van's answers, here are three web sites where you can go to look
up various file extensions:

http://www.stack.com/file/extension/

http://filext.com/
