Input dates transposed

Chris

I have a G3 iMac running International English OS9.2.2. with 60Gb Hard
Drive and 1GB RAM. I have installed MS Office:2001 in full. The Date
function in the Control Panel is set to the English style of date
format ( day, month, year). Additionally, I've set spreadsheets in
Excel 2001 to format cells as dates 'dd/mm/yy'.
However, if i input dates where both the value of the month and day
are 12 or less, it transposes the two numbers.

e.g. If I input 09/02/03 (9th. February, 2003), the cell will display
02/09/03!!(2nd. September,2003) I don't get this happening in the
Appleworks spreadsheets, nor any other programs. Can you tell me what
I'm doing wrong? I'm at my witts end trying to solve this one.

Thanking you in anticipation, Chris

Chris,

The problem comes up because all the numeric date formats in Excel 2001's
format dialog are in the M/D/Y format.

To get the date format you want, select the Custom format type, and type
dd/mm/yy in the 'Type:' field. This will give you the leading zeros and
correctly preserve the day/month/year format as you enter it.
