Hi.
Following instructions for Field properties, it tells me
L = letter must be entered
? = may be entered
= characters to right are converted to upper case

< = characters to right are converted to lower case

and quoting from the book it says
i.e. >L<????????? will result = Jackson

first character Uppercase and the rest lower case is what I am trying to do.
But I get in data sheet L?????????jackson
and when I click into the cell, only jackson shows.
When I go back to design view the input mask has changed to ><"L??????????"

Have I missed something? or is it a typo in the book?

Well mistery solved. The part in the chapter that talks about the format
property, said for examples (see page 25 ).
which I did, but when I RE-READ the chapter to fnd out what I was doing
wrong, I noticed that the bit about the 'Input mask' said (see page 26). But
in fact that was on page 25 too, which is why I was reading it to mean for
the formal property.
Well that's my excuse anyhow.
The book assumes that I am not stupid, I wish.
