Insert delivery point barcode

Anyone know how to insert a delivery point barcode into a Word document (above the address) so I can use window envelopes?

If you're using Word 2002(XP), click on Tools | Envelopes and Mailings |
Envelopes and Labels | Envelopes | Options | check the "Delivery point
barcode" box.

We don't use postal barcodes in the UK, but I see no reason why you should
not use a barcode field in the document, either referencing a zip mergefield
or a bookmarked zip, according to how the address is placed in the document.

Still looking for solution. I do NOT want to print a label or envelope, but want the barcode to be a part of my letter, inserted just above the address lines of the letter so they show through when I put the letter in the window envelope. Thanks.

Strangely enough, it is not possible to copy the Word-generated DPBC
from the envelope and paste it back into the letter as a picture or
anything else. So if you don't want to use Word's envelope tool, you'll
have to invest in third-party barcode software. It's not simply a
matter of converting the numbers in a postal code to a barcode font...
the bars represent a start character, the postal code, a calculated
check digit, and an end character.

Insert > Field > Barcode works anywhere in a document. The syntax is
any of the forms

{BARCODE \u 12345}
{BARCODE \u 12345-2468}
{BARCODE bookmarkname \b}

The field works only with US zip codes, requiring either 5-digit or
ZIP+4 format. If you use the bookmark form, the zip code can be
anywhere within the bookmark, which can cover the entire mailing
address.

There's also an \f switch for making a Facing Identification Mark
(FIM). See the help topic on Filed codes: Barcode.

And note that if you're creating a mail merge, the "literal text" used with
the \u switch is the merge field that contains the ZIP code (like the
bookmark, it can contain more than just the ZIP).

A font alone is not enough. You have to use a BARCODE field to get the
correct code.
