Insert disk in Drive : E

Why do I keep getting the message; "Insert disk in Drive : E", when I launch
MS Word 2003 or MS Outlook 2003? Anyone have a fox for this?

1. Your system thinks that office was installed from drive E, and wants to
see the install disk to add a necessary feature.
As I remember, you can edit the registry to point to a correct location for
the office install disk, or, you may be given a choice to change the
location.

2. Or, there is/was a removable disk, and somehow office was told to use it
by default.
Again, edit the registry, or you may have a choice to change the location.

Your reply makes sense! However, I went into the registry via "regedit" and
did a search for character strings like; "Insert disk in Drive: E", and
portions of this like; "Drive: E". The search returns nothing. What part of
the registry do I look at, and if I find it, what should it be changed to?
My instinct tells me that Office Word 2003 & Outlook 2003 want a blank disk
in the drive (E:). But why? The drive is a CD RW drive. Office is not asking
for a setup disk or to install a part of Office not previously installed. As
long as I install a blank disk in Drive E (a CD), Office seems to be happy.
If I dismiss the advice twice it goes away and I do not experience any other
problems from Office Word 2003 & Outlook 2003. Any specific advice on the
solution to this annoyance?

While I can't tell you exactly what to look for, strings like "Insert
disk in Drive: E" and "Drive: E" are unlikely to be found in the
Registry.

Try searching for "E:\" or "E:\\" instead.
You might try this freeware for searching instead of Regedit. It is
many times faster.
