Insert Excel object errors

HI!
Any time I tried to insert a excel object in Power point,
I got a message says "This application must be installed.
PLease run Setup from the location where you originally
installed the app." In fact, I have both excel and PP
installed. I am using Windows 2000. Microsoft office 2002.
PLease help
