Which version of Word?

You need to provide a lot more information about the way the data is
coming in, and how it should be interpreted. A list of numbers is
meaningless to us without more context.

I had not noticed the double post.
I hate double posts!

Just in case, while Cindy has very valid questions, you might want to check
your double post in vba.general where I suggested some code.

At least, this way I won't feel like I wasted 15 minutes writing the code...

In general, doubleposting is not a good idea. It wastes everybody's time.

Hi,

Its word 2003 and im after it to draw a line graph based on the numbers in
a file or basically any method of getting numbers to draw a graph using a
macro.
Not sure what you need to know. I have followed an example from the net
where i selected a row from a table and made a graph but it just stops when
finished and does not move on to the next line of code.

Hi,

Sorry about the double post but not sure which to place it in both section
just say "Word Programming"

Usually, one group is enough, in this case, vba.general would have been
sufficient.

However, when in doubt, you can multi-post, i.e put both group names in the
destination. Of course, if you use the Web interface, you cannot do that...
in which case, select the one that seeems most appropriate. Wait a while to
see if you get any replies. If after a while you do not get a reply (and by
"a while" I mean about 48 hours... remember that we are all volunteers doing
this becasue we like it... we are not paid Microsoft employees...), try
again. But most of the time, if you do not get a reply, it is either because
your question is badly written and nobody can understand it or it is too
obscure and nobody has ever seen the problem...

If you are in the wrong group, somone usually points you in the right
direction, if it is unclear, someone usually points it out. If it is too
obscure you may get no reply, or it might be becasue it is obviously a
homework question or a question from a troll... Luckily we haven't seen any
of them lately... Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Hi,
Its not a homework question, bit old for that and as far as a troll,
never heard of it.

Hi,

I have only ask a question on how to do something, never been accused of
being a troll when using the expression web newsgroup/forum or whatever this
is.
What is the point in having this if you can only ask questions where the
answers are already in the help menu.

The only time i ask is when i have spent a day trying to find a way to do
something and have failed.

I am sure confused. "Jean-Guy Marcil" said "vba.general" so I don't
understand why you said "Word Programming".

Jean-Guy Marcil neither indicated your question is a homework assignment nor
said you are a troll. You are using the classic technique of exageration of
a small portion of something someone said to discredit and/or ignore the
other more important issues.

The reason why people that try to help others are frustrated when someone
posts the same question in many places with no indication of the other posts
is that it is very possible that someone will spend time answering a
question that has already been answered more than one time elsewhere. Which
means that there is less time available for helping others.

You need to understand that if you ignore important things such as requests
to not multi-post then you must expect that in the future people that might
be able to help you will feel reluctant to help you.

Hi,

I posted in two places because on the left hand side it says

Word Printing Fonts
Word Programming
Word Programming
Word Setup Networking

There are two word programming, one appears more used than the other so if i
put in one and not the other how do i know it will get read?

Hi,

So in future i dont get things wrong which one do i put a question about
macros in?

Is it the first or second word programming

Hi Sam,
I am sure confused. "Jean-Guy Marcil" said "vba.general" so I don't
understand why you said "Word Programming".
Because he's using the web interface, probably. The labels on the
links don't always correspond to the newsgroup names.

As a matter of fact, I'm surprised Rich found this group at all. I
don't recall ever seeing it listed in the standard web interface where
the vba.general group is labelled "Word Programming".

Hi Rich,

is.
Take a moment to go back and re-read Jean-Guy's message. He wasn't accusing you
of anything. He was only explaining why a question might not get an answer.
Perhaps his use of "you" is unfortunate as he was explaining the way the
newsgroups work, in general. One always has to be careful in this kind of
venue, because it's uncertain whether English is the native language of the
person writing. The world has become very international :)

Here's the relevant bit again. Read it but subsitute "the user" for "you"
(which is how it is meant). And note the last bit, starting with the word
"Lucky" - that underlines that you, personally, are not considered a "troll".

"If you are in the wrong group, somone usually points you in the right

obscure you may get no reply, or it might be becasue it is obviously a

Oh I see. Or at least I think I see that there is something about Microsoft
that is confusing. They seem to have a need to confuse.

Hi Cindy,

I have the following bookmark for here and the left pannel both say the
same word programming.

http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...654-8B18-6C08-9262-8FDA3A9FDAAC&lang=en&cr=US

I have given up on my first idea and would you know how i could do this.

Record a macro to Insert\Picture\Chart

Got this bit to work but i need a line graph not bar and how do i change the
values in the cells when the macro is running. I can get the values from file
no problem.
When finished how do i get it to disable the chart so that the macro
continues to run the rest of the code.

Sorry to just grab you like this but im going round and round and not
getting anywere.

Can you give us a link to the page where you're seeing this, please? I looked
in the MSFT web interface for the Office groups and didn't see the same list.

FWIW, when you hover the mouse of such a link, or right-click and look at
"Properties", you should see the destination of the link. If you're working
with VBA (you are) then the word.vba.general group is probably your better bet.

On the left hand side of what do you see those items listed?

In the web interface, all I can see are

General Questions
New Users
Application Errors
Drawing and Graphics
Mailmerge and Fax
Page Layout
Programming
Tables

And the Programming item resolves to microsoft.public.word.vba.general, not
to microsoft.public.word.programming.

Hope this helps.

See my reply in the other "programming" group...

You see why double posting is not a good idea! Especially if you are using
the Web interface... which is less than adequate... But I understand that
sometimes we have no choices.. (I have to use it even if I hate it... I am
used to it now, but if I could go back to OE or Forte, I would in a heart
beat!)
