Insert iv - how?

I'm trying to insert iv (4) with a line above and below
How do I do that?

Using Office 2003
WINXP

Do you want to do this in Word or Excel? By 'iv' do you mean roman numeral 4,
and do you mean it needs to follow a 'iii'?

Fred, I want to do this in Excel and I mean the roman numeral for 4
with a line above and below

Upper case I and V in times New Roman????

Upper or lower Giles, but I want to do it in Excel with a line above
and below

Assume you want to insert this after row 4.

Highlight rows 5,6 and 7 (put the cursor on row 5, left click and drag to row
7).
Right click, choose Insert.

This will give you three blank rows.
Enter 'iv' wherever you want.

You could try this:

Hit Underline twice (on my keyboard, <Shift>dash or minus[right of 0 zero]),
Then <Alt> <Enter>,
Then key in
IV
Then <Enter>.

Then, select the cell again, and click "underline" and "center" from the
toolbar.

Thank you Ragdyer that works great if the IV is in its own cell
However, it is in the middle of text, which is in between other lines
of text

Can be done ... But don't know how "nice" it looks.
Also, don't know if it's worth all the "trouble", but that's your decision.

Select the cell,
Then <F2> <Home>

Key in those 2 underlines from the keyboard, then,
<Alt> <Enter>
Then
<Ctrl> <Home>,
And add <Spaces> to place those underlines over the IV,
Then <Enter>.

Click in the cell again, and *IN THE FORMULA BAR*
Select *only* the IV,
Then click the "underline" from the toolbar,
Then <Enter>.

Can you use that?
