Insert old appointments into Outlook Calendar

I use Calendar as a diary (Journal does not show times) . I want to insert
appointments that I overlooked. Calendar refuses to accept them as
Appointments, saying they occurred in the past) and only accepts them as
Events (again, without times). How do I rectify this?
