Insert options disabled

I just installed Office 2007 and the insert options are
disabled in PowerPoint.

I can insert a new slide, and/or initiate creation of a
photo album, but that's all the insert options that are
active.

Office 2007 was activated at install, so I'm clueless as
to why PP seems to be partially crippled.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Problem is isolated to a single ppt file. The file was created using Shyam
Pillai's IIW. With a new and empty file, IIW was launched and a few dozen
jpeg images were imported. It is with that file that the insert options are
disabled.

A new file has been created and a single blank slide inserted, followed by
an insertion of an jpg image via manual operation method. Then, Pilai's IIW
was used to add a few dozen slides. With this approach, all the insert
options are enabled.

I have no idea why the initial method produced a file wherein the insert
options were disabled.

Thanks for any time spent pondering upon my issue.

Bill
