Insert Picture

When I try to insert a picture from a jpg file in Word or Powepoint I do not
see the picture just a box wit a red cross in the corner.

Can anyone help?

How are you trying to insert the .jpg? And where is that file located?

Picture is displayed as a red X in a Word 2002 document

The pictures are taken with a digital camera, I have found that we can insert
them into office 2003 applications but not office xp. I have also found that
if I reduce the quality of the pictures they insert fine into xp?
