insert pictures into Powerpoint without them changing size

For some reason for certain templates I have for Powerpoint when I insert
more than one picture the size of the picture changes automatically on
pasting. When I open a brand new template this does not happen. There must a
setting somewhere which I can change, but I don't know which.

Generally I think the help on Powerpoint is poor - indeed I have learnt most
myself and found it generally okay. However, I am now stuck! Can someone help?

Have you tried unchecking in Tools - Autocorrect options - Autoformat as you
type tab - the checkbox 'Apply automatic layout for inserted objects'. Does
that help?

Look in tools > auto correct options and untick automatic layout for insertd
objects

See if that works
