insert pictures on top of a picture

Hello, Do you know if there is a way which allow me to
insert pictures on top of the original picture I have?
For example, I have 10 35X35 pictures and I want to
insert them into different part on the top of the
original picture which is 400X400. For example, one on
the right corner, bottom left corn on so for... the
reason I want to do that is I am using the hover
function, so that when the user hover the link .. the
tiny picture will show up on top of the original picture.
Will it work if I create a layer on top of the original
picture, and insert the picture. cuz I don't think it's
possible to create 20 small cells inside my table. I want
to do it like inserting a hotspot.

Please advise

Frankly you would be better off dicing up your 400x400 image into 10 images of 40x40 images and using std mouseovers (your 10 images
of 35x35 should also be 40x40)

However, they are not the same size. some are bigger than
others and some are smaller. I can't divide the pictures
into 10 area. Cuz I am work on a map, and you know
differnt building have different size. it is not easy to
just divide the map into same 40x40 saqure.
Also, Can I create a layer to do that. so I can just make
up the layer's size on the location where I want it to be.

Thanks, Yiu Yan

You can try to create layers, but good luck on getting consistent viewing in all browser at all resolutions

All images are rectangles, so any image can be diced up into a series of rectangles

Hello, All I am doing is . I have a 400x400 pictures in
greyscale in the background. When the user hover the link
it will just show up a small full colored picture on top
of the greyscale 400X400 background picture. Therefore,
instead of having one 400x400 greyscale and one 400x400
colored pictures. I would just cut down to just one
400x400 greyscale picture and the location I want to show
(indicate) on the top of it. It will just save me a lot of
bandwidth on that page.

Thanks

I just found out that I can save that picture into .gif
with transparent background. The way I do it is to make
all the pictures to 400x400 and so that the background is
the same as the original picture. Then I just transparent
the background. And now it will save my a lot of
bandwidth, and faster download time.

How big (bytes) are all of these files? If you're concerned about bandwidth
and download time, having a whole bunch of 400X400-pixel GIFs in a single
page is likely to eat up your bandwidth and download time.
