Insert Stopped Responding

On two of my computers, both with Office Outlook 2003, when I try to Insert
an attachment, when I hit the insert and then use the drop down arrow to
browse for the file I want to attach, nothing happens. Then the "not
responding" message appears. If I wait a minute or two it will jump from My
Docs to the name of my laptops Docs and then allow me to carry on. If however
I try to hurry it and cancel out of the insert box I get an error message for
Microsoft come up mentioning Win-Word.exe. It will then crash Outlook and
when I try to go back in I get a red cross with Error and then have to reboot
to get back into Outlook. I have also noticed that I cannot do a "save as" in
Word either. I think this has started after doing some recent Microsoft
updates of both Office and regular Microsoft updates.
I have tried stopping Winword in Task Mgr but that didnt work. This is only
happin on laptops not on my desktop. Not sure if it matters but laptops are
wireless and desktop wired. Just thought I would mention it.
I know there has been some other disscussions on this before but could not
see the outcome. Would be grateful for any help.

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.

Hey, thanks! This has been happening for 6 months - and it's 2009 - it was
my HP wireless printer that was messing things up, I'm sure! I did the fix
and now my Outlook runs faster than ever. Now, if I can solve my 'business
contact manager' woes, I just might be happy...
