Inserted mpg files don't play on different computers

I have a laptop with Powerpoint 2003 Professional and a desktop with
Powepoint 2003 SP2 Small Business Edition. The presentation with movie files
plays properly when shown on the desktop but not on the laptop. Laptop movie
clips simply turn to a white box. I don't have the files buried into a deep
directory structure and the hardware accelerator settings mentioned in
earlier postings make no difference. Any additional suggestions?
