Inserted photos are poor quality once email is sent

Why is it that when I insert a great quality 2 mb photo into an email the
picture is compressed to 69kb and the quality is greatly diminished once the
email is sent? Is there any way to change this so that the inserted pictures
keep their original size and quality? Thank you.

If you don't want them resized, you should send them as attachment, not
embedded.

Which version of Outlook? how you prevent outlook from resizing is dependant
on the version.

Thank you! I am using Outlook 2003. I'd like to keep them as embedded
objects instead of attachments if possible.
