Inserting a contact as text in an email message

E

elizabeth

When a new message is opened we would like to insert
contact information as text. The steps we use are as
follows: Open a new message, Select item from the
pulldown box insert file, Select contacts. At this point
the text only radio button is grayed out. The only
options are attachement and shortcut. What needs to be
changed or inabled to use the text only radio button?

Hi Elizabeth,

Thank you for your posting here.

I would like to make sure that I understand the problem correctly. When you
choose to insert an Outlook item in the message body, the "Text Only" box
is grayed out in the Insert Item dialog box. If I have misunderstood your
concern, please let me know.

Based on my initial research, this issue may occur when we have selected
Word as the e-mail editor. To resolve the problem, please try the following
steps and update me with the results at your earliest convenience:

Disable Word editor
===============

1. In Outlook, choose Tools --> Options... in the menu.

2. On the Mail Format tab, clear the "Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail
messages" and the "Use Microsoft Word to read Rich Text e-mail messages"
checkboxes.

3. Click OK.

4. Open a new message window and choose Insert --> Item... in the menu.

Hope this helps. If anything is unclear or need further help, just post
back to let me know. Thanks and have a nice day!

Thanks & Regards
Alan Sun

Thank you this works. Not sure the user likes the idea
of changing using word as the editor but this is the only
solution that has worked.

Alan, I also tried this solution and it does work. Although it is not an
acceptable solution as there are many benefits to using work as the editor.

Thanks.
