Inserting a file as a printout sometimes painfully slow

J

Joshua Prowse

I'm having an issue with Onenote 2007: sometimes it is painfully slow
to insert a file as a printout.

For example, today I have been trying to insert a file as a printout.
It is a seven page PDF document. I have tried several times. Each time
I have given up after between 4 and 6 minutes.
- Most of the time when I insert a file as a printout it goes quite
quickly - taking maybe 10 to 20 seconds for a similarly sized file.
- I have a fast computer (3GB RAM, 64bit dual core processor, etc.)

Do you have any thoughts or troubleshooting suggestions? Could this be
caused by having a workbook that's too big?

Thank you.

How large is the pdf? Does it contain large images or drawings? If you
copy and paste the contents of the PDF into a Word document do you notice a
similar response? How does this compare with other PDF files?

For an actual example of a problem that I'm having.

1. Here is the file: http://www.cyclinginottawa.ca/jp/pro.pptx
2. Symptom: when I try to insert the file into a Onenote document via
the "Insert as Printout" menu item the slides that are inserted don't
have the content on them and are all black
3. Frequency: Happens every time
4. Alternatives tried: happens whether the document is in the old or
new powerpoint format or whether I save it as a PDF. But I've inserted
dozens of other PDFs and powerpoint files and haven't had issues, I
only have an issue with this one.

What's the solution?

Thank you.

Same happened with me. I guess maybe your default pdf reader is not Acrobat.

Do this:

Make your default pdf reader Adobe Acrobat Reader and then try to insert file printout to your OneNote.

I hope this will help.
