Inserting a flowchart symbol into an existing flowchart.

Is there a feature in Visio when you want to insert a symbol into and
existing flowchart? By using this feature all of the symbols following the
symbol which you are inserting would automatically move down.

Not automatically. Select all the shapes below the insertion point and move
them all down as a unit. Then add the new shape. and adjust the connections.
