Someone showed me once how to format word art by inserting a picture into it.
I can't seem to figure out how do to that now. Any assistance would be

Create the word art, then select it on the slide and hit the paint bucket
icon. Choose Fill Effects there. You want the Picture tab in Fill Effects.

And therein lies the problem--the picture tab is grayed out. ??

Odd. Which WordArt style did you choose? (Which row/column position is it
in?)

Hello Kay
I use the first Word Art in the gallery.
As text you'll need to use a solid character, such as a full stop at
maximum font size.
You can then resize the dot up, use the paint bucket and fill it with a
picture of your choice.
Finally use No Line as line colour.

Thanks very much to both Echo & Gus for your help. I was trying to use the
paint bucket tool on the word art toolbar. That was the problem.
