Inserting a .wmv file into a pp

I am having problems inserting a .wmv file or any file for that matter into
my pp. When I insert the file, my whole screen goes bright green and my
computer freezes. Any advice would be fantastic.

This is DirectX using overlays. PowerPoint doesn't like it on some machines.
I've had this on laptops.

Try this:

1. Update your video driver to the latest version
2. Update your DirectX version to latest (9.0c?)
3. Launch Windows Media Player, go to tools -> options, -> Performance ->
Advanced then turn off either "Use overlays" or "Use Video mixing renderer".
