Inserting Clip Art

J

J. Owens

When I attempt to insert clipart from the web (using WinXP SP2, Office 2003)
I get the following error:

"Powerpoint could not create a picture from the specified file"

The KB article suggests to clear Temp. Internet Files. I did this, error
still appears when inserting a .wmf file.

Any help is appreciated.

hm. This is an unusual error message. Can you give me a URL for one of the
pictures you're trying to insert?

Also, have you tried running Detect and Repair? Go to Help/Detect and Repair
to begin. You may need your Office 2003 install CDs during the process.

It is not specifically an URL. I select 'insert ClipArt,' then select one
from the 'web collections' (has a Internet Globe in the bottom left hand
side of the icon). That is when the error message appears. The properties
of the icon/image points to my Temp. Internet File within my profile. This
is on a work place pc. On my home pc, I have the same OS and Application
with all updates and do not have any issues. It has the .wmf extension and
opens with Windows Image and Fax Viewer.

Hm. I'm just not sure what would be causing this problem. I'd try running a
Detect and Repair.

I wonder if it's got something to do with your corporate firewall?

The clipart you're describing can also be found at
http://office.microsoft.com/clipart/default.aspx?lc=en-us You may have
better luck downloading clips from there, letting them install, and then
inserting the clips from the Clip Organizer as you described below (only
this time, you'd insert the clips from where they are on your hard drive
instead of inserting the clips from online).
