Inserting components into shared borders

I am trying to insert jbots menu weaver into a shared
border but its not working. It only appears on the
original page. I need to have this type of menu, is there
any other way of creating one in front page shared
borders? Thanks for all the help.

Hi Gillian,

Are you using FP3? If so I would advise that you utilize DWTs instead.

MW was not designed for shared border use and the reason that it has functionality to apply it to one of many pages.

Hi Mike

This is interesting, I've only recently looked at dwts, the light begins to
dawn... of course since the dwt is done on one page then it's locked regions
are applied through the site it's like going to each page and applying the
menu but instead the dwt of course does it for you. I have menuweaver so I
can use it to do this for new dwt sites that I make, what a time saving idea
specially if you already have MW, no need to go out and figure other script
outs, specially since it's a fp add-on. I'm quite taken with this, I'm
always looking to save time when making and maintaining a site.

Things that did not work well in shared borders now become doable in DWTs. For example, one of the problems with shared borders and
webbots was that links within the webbot would not be updated when incorporated into the shared border page. We considered this to
be a bug, MS did not.

If you're getting started with DWTs or have already started designing with them I urge you to follow the DWT Interchange Guidelines
at http://dwtig.com Do so will provide a defacto standard for the interchange of DWTs.

Thanks Mike,

By the time I received this reply, I had found the
function of applying to selected pages which is perfect.
(I only purchased JBots this week and am just starting to
have fun with it). Please excuse my ignorance, but what
is DWT?
