Inserting date takes too many mouse clicks (in ver 7 beta 2)

It took me some time to discover how to insert a date in Word - surely this
should be easier? But now that I know how to do it, it takes too many clicks
of the mouse to achieve - it should be easier.

Hi Wyndham,

Where are you trying to insert the date in Word 2007 and what steps are you follwing? Some of the header/footer quick parts, for
example have those built in.

Be sure to send your feedback to MS as well using the 2007 feedback tool from the link below.

Click 7, OK

Thanks for reminding me to send feedback to MS as well - I have installed

Just so you know, Alt+Shift+D inserts a { DATE } field that
changes to the current date each time you open the file. Is that
what you really want?

No I didn't, but as a work-around it helped. Thanks for reminding me...

The problem still remains that the "ribbon solution" to inserting a date is
poor.
