Inserting new slide / slide master

I need to insert a new slide but with the same formatting as the others in my
presentation. Can I copy another slide and paste it where the new slide is
required?

Also, I need to try and incorporate the new slide into the web-style links
which the previous user has set up to jump between different sections of the
presentation.

I have previously been advised that these links / index can be edited in
View => Master => Slide Master. I have tried this but cannot find anything -
only a blank slide is displayed.

For your info, I am using Powerpoint 2000.
