Inserting Numerous Photos

I have a document that is landscape 8 1/2 x 11. I am trying to insert six pictures to a page and typing textboxes for captions. It is getting very frustrating because every time, I paste in a new picture, it jumps somewhere else or one that was already there moves somewhere else and the text boxes that I had the picture explanation in is no longer anywhere near the picture!!! Can someone please tell me how to do this the right way? Thank you.

I would suggest using a table instead. Use one cell for each
picture+caption.
