Inserting Photographs and web links into Word Doc

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) I am a new iMac user. I've been trying to 'drag' images from my iPhoto gallery into an open Word Document (Yes, I have Word for Mac). All that appears is a pale blue shadow where the image should be. What am I doing wrong?

Sorry: I need a bit more detail about the document you are dragging into,
and the image you are dragging.

Little things make a big difference. Right-click the picture and Choose
Format>Picture. There are settings in there that will prevent the picture
appearing.

But what part of the document are you trying to put it into? There are
objects in a document into which you can't put pictures...

Sorry: Not enough detail to answer: it works here.

It's working now... all is well. Thanks.

I had the same problem. I cannot get it to work since I installed Snow Leopard. When I insert a picture, all I get is a black outline or sometimes the corner handles, but not the picture. I've tried all the views. Also, I used to get a place in the formatting palate that allowed me to bring object to the front, but I no longer get that.

Sorry, no idea what you're using, so I can't help.

Help me, guys: the software version numbers and update levels are absolutely
critical: without it, we usually simply can't answer.

My only guess is that your camera has captured the images in Raw Format
which is not compatible with anything other than a raster image editing
program. In order to use them in other types of documents they have to be
saved as JPEGs, TIFFs, etc. If that's the case see iPhoto Help on Raw.

Otherwise there's insufficient detail & specifications in your message to
speculate about what might be the cause. Additional to John's request, are
you dragging from the iPhoto window or from Finder? What happens if you use
the preferred insertion methods? [Dragging raster images bypasses import
filters & is not recommended.] What type of editing has been done in
iPhoto... Cropping? Enhancements? Effects? Adjustments? Rotating?

Nobody here can responsibly suggest what might be wrong unless we know what
we're dealing with... Any given symptom can be common to numerous causes.
