Inserting pictures in a cell

I have inserted photo's into cells and scaled them down to thumbnail size
without any problems. However, when I tried to do the same to a picture of
the front cover of my book, it becomes fuzzy and the text is almost unreadable
Any ideas on how I can retain the clarity of the picture and text when it is reduced t
thumbnail size

You could try creating the thumbnail in a photo editor like Photoshop
Elements or Paintshop. You'll probably get better results.

Sometimes it depends on the graphics application used to shrink the picture.
It can also depend on the dpi of the original picture as the higher the dpi
the more information is available for determining how to format a shrunken
photo. Some users of various graphics applications such as photoshop also
report good results by shrinking an image several times, gradually getting
closer to the target size. That method is supposed to give the graphics
application a slightly better chance of determining exactly which pixels
make it through the transition. Some things though, just never come out
right when shrunk and it really depends on the source. Best practice is to
never use FP for shrinking photos, it lacks the strength that a real
graphics application has for manipulating pictures. If you don't have a
graphics app, try some of the trail/share/freeware ones on the web
(PaintShop Pro is an excellent beginning product). Tucows.com should have a
number of free/shareware versions and you can even get trialware versions by
most of the big companies such as Adobe.

Hope this helps,
