Inserting songs as background

I am trying to insert songs as a background to a fairly large number of
slides but when I "insert" it will play the songs one after the other but
the slides don't change, the first slide with the songs just sits there.
Any suggestions as to how one can put the songs in the background and still
have the slide show progress?
