Inserting sound files into Powerpoint

B

Baz

Hi, I'm having trouble inserting sound files into my powerpoint presentation.
I'm using the Insert>Movies and sounds>Sound from file option from the
toolbar and the sound file is saved as .wav. The sound icon appears on the
presentation but when I attempt to play the file in the slide show nothing
happens. I've changed the options as the file is over 1000 kb so it links
rather than embeds into the presentation but this still has not solved the
problem. I'd be very appreciative if anyone has any ideas on how to overcome
this. Other files which are sound files associated with powerpoint play
without problem. Thanks in anticipation!

Hi Baz

A couple of suggestions for you:
1. Make sure sound file & powerpoint file are in the same folder, re-insert
sound file
2. Make sure that folder doesn't have too long a file path - i.e. save it
direct to C drive instead of in My Documents folder or Desktop

If these don't help post back letting us know the verson of powerpoint,
windows & media player.

Try moving your presentation and sound file to a folder with a shorter path,
e.g. C:\test. Sometimes multimedia files do not play, if path + file name
are longer than 128 characters. It might additionally help to remove all
spaces in the file name (you may use "-" or "_" instead).

Best regards,
Ute
