Inserting Symbol

C

Carl Roth

I use the "section" symbol quite often. When I try to assign a shortcut key
of alt+s to insert the section symbol, the shortcut works while I stay in the
document. However, when I open a new blank document, I need to assign the
key again. Isn't there a way to keep that shortcut for all new documents? I
am using Word 2003.

Thanks

Carl

The keystroke assignment is saved in normal.dot and should be retaiuned to
be available to all documents provided normal.dot is saved on closing Word.
If normal.dot is not saving changes and you have Acrobat 7 installed - see
the last section of
http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adobe_acrobat_toolbar.htm

While testing this I was thrown by the keyboard customization dialog which
reverts to a default symbol after restarting Word and thus does not appear
to show the shortcut - however on selecting the same symbol the shortcut was
still in place.
