Inserting .wmv Files

A client sent me a .wmv file to edit. The file worked fine
with their system before the edit, but the edited version
now only plays as audio on 2 out of 3 machines. I edited
the file using Windows Movie Maker. Someone else visiting
the newsgroup had a similar problem and solved it by
editing the registry. Is there any other way to solve
this? I would prefer to avoid walking the client through a
registry edit. Perhaps saving the file differently? I
saved it using the Windows default settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Windows Movie Maker2 save wmv videos with codec9(windows media video 9 and
windows media audio9), your earlier video file before editing may be encoded
with codec8 or codec7,windows media audio9 is compatible with windows media
audio8,but windows media video 9 is not compatible with earlier version,so
if a pc have codec8 ,but not codec9, it can only play audio.

To workaround, you can download Codecs9 Installation Package
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/format/codecdownload.aspx

or reencode your video file with codec 8 or codec7.
