Insertion from input panel

About 2 wks ago, I Purchased 2 Tablet PCs, one with vista and the other with
XP OS. Both Computers Carne with ON 2007 installed.. The machine with Vista
has no problems. The machine with XP has a problem with the input Panel. The
input panel does not become active automatically and will not insert text
from input Panel in any program. However, it does insert text in address
fields such as internet explorer, etc. but will not insert text in ON, Word,
Excel, etc. This problem makes editing converted text impossible in Tablet
mode. To correct the problem, I repaired & re-installed again. It did not
make a difference.
Help, please.

As this seems to be an in-general problem with your computer and the OS,
I'd suggest to ask in the TabletPC newsgroup:
microsoft.public.windows.tabletpc

The TIP will only insert text where there is an insertion point. Is it
possible that you have a program active in the foreground but no insertion
point or other place where one can insert text active?

To put it another way, can you reproduce the problem with a connected
keyboard? If you try to insert text with the TIP and it doesn't work, can
you begin typing on a keyboard and have text appear (without switching
applications or clicking anywhere, etc.)
