Instalation problem with ofice 2003

I installed a new harddrive and loaded windows 2000 and
office 2003. When I go to Word and attempt to type on the
first letter the wrd window goes black with a white curser
and no letters. This does not happen in the doss prompt
or the windows note pad.

Any Ideas?
