install Office 2003 Standard on second laptop

ajimmo

I bought the retail version of Office 2003 Standard. Although I am 63 years
old and have been able to function well through a difficult life I have
severe learning disabiliites and often do not get the full point when reading
a long documetn. Sometimes I become hopelessly confused or the subject
becomes unclear. I am confused between whether the allowable
re-installations, as it were, are controlled by the number of installations
or whether there can eb two laptop installations, rather than one laptop and
one desktop. My desktop installation is oem and thus I bought the retail
version. .

Thanks, Ajimmo

I find that when reading some things, even though I understand them, my eyes
glaze over and I am mentally wandering off doing something else. ;-)

Technically the EULA says:
Installation and use. You may:
(a) install and use a copy of the Software on one personal computer or other
device; and
(b) install an additional copy of the Software on a second, portable device
for the exclusive use of the primary user of the first copy of the Software.

This means you can put it on two systems as long as it is for YOUR use. No
one else.

JoAnn:

Thank you so much. That makes it clear; the main factor is that it is for
my use, so whether I put it on one desktop and one laptop or two laptops
deosn't matter. Got it! Thanks.

It's often interpreted as one desktop and one laptop but it doesn't state
that, does it? :) As long as they are both yours and no one else is using
it, you're fine.

Glad to have helped.

CAn I install the above software on a second laptop?.

Keeping in mind all that has been answered in this thread( and noting the
more recent DeGroot comments about the non-acceptance of the product key on a
second machine), I have an auxilliary question.
I just bought a new wireless laptop(since Verizon's DSL and Fios seem to
have fouled up my dial up). I had planned on installing the Office 2003
retail version priorly discussed for a third installation all belonging to me
and, before I read Degroot et al, I was concnered as to whether I should use
the trial version and if so at what point to try to install the retail
version. Or should I just forget about the trial and (try to) install the
retail version on a third machine? SInce this all has to be done at the
Library to use their wireless I would like it to go as smoothly as possible.
Please advise and many thanks.
