Office won't run. Excel, Word, all won't open. When I try
to repair I get the message that I need to uninstall.
When I try to uninstall I get the followinig message:

The file 'D:\DATA1.MSI' is not a valid installation
package for the product Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1
Premium. Try to find the installation package 'data1.msi'
in a folder from which you can install Microsoft Office
2000 SR-1.

I can't open Word, I can't repair it, I can't uninstall, I
can't install. Suggestions?

Hi Dave,

This could be caused by several different things. First, when you go to
Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, is there more than one version of Office
2000? The installer is looking for Office 2000 Premium, so you'll need to
get the cd for the version you have installed. If you are showing more than
one version (i.e., Professional or Standard), you'll want to remove all but
one.

You can also try browsing to the D:\ drive, and double-clicking data1.msi.
If you still get the same error, you can run the Windows Installer cleanup
utility to remove Office, and then reinstall. You can download it from the
following location.

238413 OFF2000: Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=238413

This tool is not supported on Windows Installer 2.0 or higher, so check the
article to verify that you can run this on your machine. If not, let me
know, and I will try to help.

HTH,
