Hi there, and a happy new buggy year

* I can't install BCM 2007 on a fresh windows+office2007 installation.
The c:\progrfiles\microsoft...\SQL\setup bootstrap\log...\summary.txt says:

SQL Server Setup failed. For more information, review the Setup log

Uninstall MSXML, and then reinstall sql.

"reinstall sql", you mean via the BCM setup tool ?
or with a separate package ?

Thank you

You'll need to run BCM setup to create the BCM Sql instance.

You can run the sql install directly, with their setup UI, and then
run BCM setup to create the BCM instance.

OK, it's working now.
Here's what I've done, based on your advice "uninstall MSXML" :

- from "add/remove programs", you can't uninstall MSXML => it aborts
- You can uninstall the SQL express stuff if any, I don't know if it's
necessary

But, until you really can remove MSXML, you won't be able to install SQL
Express 2005 (so you won't be able to install BCM)

To force this patch deletion, use this:
http://www.tech-archive.net/Archive....public.sqlserver.setup/2008-12/msg00185.html
This tool really removes KB954459:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe

Reboot, just in case.
Then, you can install SQL Express 2005 or BCM I guess.
In my case, I manually installed SQL Express before BCM (meaning, not
the one integrated in BCM's package), with advanced options to name the
instance MSSMLBIZ.
Then BCM can install blah blah blah...Problem solved

All of this is related to MSXML + XP SP3 "conflicts", let say.

Regards,

Thanks to both of you. I had the same problem and the removal of MSXML
worked for me. Just for other to know I used the BCM install of SQL Express
2005 and the installation was perfect. Thanks again.

In the days of BCM v2 Microsoft used to have a document describing all
the steps for manually configuring sql to work with BCM, but with v3
they released a tool for installing the BCM database on a server and
removed the document, so that info is lost.

However, BCM setup should create the BCM sql instance if it doesn't
exist, even if sql's already installed.

How is the BCM setup failing w/out error. Does is report success, or
Watson?
