In the process of troubleshooting some issues on a server I have a couple of
weeks ago I was forced to uninstall Project Server 2003.
Now that I have fixed those issues I tried to reinstall Project Server 2003
and near the end of the installation I can see the Virtual Server Root trying
to be created and then see the installation rolling back and the following
error message;
"Installation ended prematurely because of an error."
In typical Microsoft fashion there are no messages in the Event logs that
indicate what the exact nature of the error might be, just Event ID 11078 and
a description that said the "Installation Operation Failed".
Does anyone have any idea what might cause this and more importantly how it
can be fixed?
Server config is as follows;
Windows 2003 Server SP1
SharePoint Portal Server 2003 SP2
WSS SP2
SQL 2000 SP4
I know it's a lot for one box but it is a test server and Project Server was
