Installation ended prematurely because of an error

Hello:

I am getting the error "installation ended prematurely because of an error"
any time I run Office 2003's Installation, Detect and Repair, or Add/Remove
Component.

Microsoft KB315995 article did not help. It mentioned to run the Setup and
in the User Information dialog box, type your product key in the Product Key
boxes, and then click OK. Product Key boxes never display.

This all started when Office updates downloaded but never installed. The
Office updates are:

KB943649
KB947355
KB945432
KB943985
Office 2003 SP3

I am afraid to uninstall the entire program, but I already uninstalled Excel
and now it will not reinstall. I am hoping someone has a solution for this.
I am not a novice when it comes to PCs.

Thank you, Mary. I also found reference to the Windows Installer
CleanUp Utility in KB932857. And this utility helped solve my
problem. Thanks again.
