Installation error on Office 2007

Brian L

I have been unsuccessfully trying to instal Office 2007. I keep getting an
error message that says : Error 1311. Source file not found: H:\SKU111.CAB.
Verify that the file exists and that you can access it and try again.

Can someone please help me... I also have Office 2003 that I am trying to
upgrade to Office 2007.

Thanks

This should be happening due to a read error.

Please try this..

Make a local folder on your machine and copy the entire contents of the CD
into that folder. Then run setup.exe from that local folder.

Hi Brian,

This happens when Office 2007 setup is trying to uninstall a version of
Office 2003 already on the machine. The source package that contains the
2003 cab file has become corrupted or deleted and Office 2007 setup routine
cannot find the source cab file to complete the uninstall process. Try
uninstalling Office 2003 first, and then you should be able to insert the
Office 2003 CD when prompted during the upgrade, and then can install Office
2007 successfully. Hope this helps...

Try this! I researched for months to try and resolve this issue. My installer
window was popping up with missing sku111.cab file among other cab files for
all of my windows programs: Outlook, my browser, excel, visio everything!!! I
think the sp2 automatic update caused it for most of us...The files are
usually still on your computer in a hidden folder with hidden file extensions
so the installer can't find them even when you do browse and find...

Try this---it has worked for me and several others, maybe this will work for
you too.

1. Click Start, and then click My Computer.
2. Click Folder Options on the Tools menu.
3. Click the View tab.
4. Click Show hidden files and folders under Hidden files and folders.

5.Go to the place where you installed office
(folder OFFICE11) and (click and) run the original EXCEL.exe
Usualy the install file is:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11

The installer window still popped up when excel opened the first time, but
hasn't again after I closed all programs and tried them again.

This alone resolved it for me without my CD.

What happens if you want to keep Office 2003 on the computer too? I get the
error and yes, it might help if I uninstall Office 2003 first but this is
problematic if you want to run both versions.

Incidentally, I run both versions at work on a corporate network and they
both installed perfectly first time :eek:s

I have exactly the same problem except that the missing file is SKU 112.
Copying to my local disc did not help in that the same message appeared right
at the end of the installation program.

I found that I had to re-install Office 2003 again first (not repair the
existing, actually un-install completely and re-install it) - that seemed to
do the trick and it is working fine now (both versions side by side).

These support forums are great, can't believe I've only recently come across
them!

I am trying to install on a new computer with Windows Vista, keep getting the
error 1311, missing file SKU112.cab. I tried copying the installation from
the CD to the hard drive, still the same error. Any ideas?

I am trying to upgrade/install Office home and student 2007 onto my pc which
already has office pro2003. I am getting 1311 sku111.cab not found error and
stops the installation process. Were you able to get your installation to
work? I see you had the same problem at one point. Please advise.
