Installation of Office 2002

I am trying to install a legal version of Office 2002 for XP on a new laptop
but after I type in the product code I get an error message that said "setup
failed to find a valid qualifing product", what is this and why does it show
up?

That means that you are using an upgrade and it cannot find a product on
that system that qualifies as the basis for an upgrade.
