Installation problem and strange operation

I installed Office 2000 Pro and went through all of the upgrades. The OS is
Windows 2000 Pro fully updated.

During the install and upgrade I got an error message (didn't write it down)
that said that Windows was protecting some file that the install was trying
to modify. I would acknowledge and the install/upgrade would proceed.
Everything seemed OK.

I started Word 2000 and tried to modify the tool bars by unclicking "all
bars share one line". Clicking on the check box dosen't remove the check.
With the modify window up, the toolbars are on separate lines. As soon as
you close it, they go back to one line.

Are the installation error messagend the problem related. I don't know what
other operation problems I will have.

I tried to re-upgrade in order to get the error message but it tells me that
everything is up to date.

Any ideas what to do?

Thanks

In the future, should you encounter an error message - especially when
installing software, upgrades, patches, write the exact error message
down. :). Without the error message this could be difficult to
troubleshoot. (Actually, if you encounter an error when installing,
upgrading, patching, then you really should correct the error and try
the install/upgrade/patch again.)

Could the message have been something along the lines of your Registry
being protected??
