Installed Word 2007 and kept 2003 - having problems starting progr

I had Word 2003 on my computer. I needed to install Word 07 for school. I
successfully loaded both, but it I open Word 2003 first and then try to open
Word 2007, I get the message "Please wait while setup prepares the necessary
files" and it starts to configure even though I just used it hours before.
The same thing happens if I open 07 first and try to open 03. I then cancel
the configuration, get the following error message:

An error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning properly.
Please run Setup and select “Repair†to restore this application.

and then it goes into the program anyway. How do I fix this? (When I
installed 07 I set it up to run from my computer and I access the programs
from Office Toolbars at the top of my screen.) Thank you!

Hi Donna,

See:

After installing Word 2007, you might want to repair the Office 2003 installation via the Windows Control Panel. That's often enough
to stop Word 2003 trying to reconfigure itself when you start it (at least until the next time Windows Update makes a significant
change to Office 2007).
In addition to the registry change canvassed at the above link, you might want to make the same change to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Options
