I just installed Office 2008 and was trying to install an update. The installation froze when the screen said "Preparing Office 2008 SP1 Update (12.1.0). I have tried quitting the installer and restarting the computer, but each time i get the message "The window cannot be closed because the installer is busy." What should I do to stop the installation?

Did you quit all applications before trying to install? There is a problem
with the SP1 installer after Apple released a security update that broke the
installer. There is probably a hidden window telling you it's trying to quit
all applications.

Dos and Don'ts for a good install
