Installer Patch Error

I also am having a problem with the installer Patch
Package.

I have just upgraded to XP from Millennium and receive
the following error message "This patch package could not
be opened." I read the article re. The installer cleanup
utility, BUT, it can only be used if you do not have 2.0
on your new XP system. What can I use since 2.0 was
installed during the upgrade? It has also caused
problems for my Outlook. It cannot be upgraded. In fact
my Office 2000 CD will not open up when inserted into the
CD drive. Is there a repair or cleanup utility for those
with 2.0 ??? Please provide step by step instructions as
I am not a programmer
