installing a new font & being able to use it in word v osx

i installed a new font in my user font folder but it's not showing up in
the drop down font list in word ????
why is this sooo difficult???

Hi Rich:

Sometimes (not often...) you have to reboot to make OS X pick up a new font.

OS X purges its font cache on system start, and that's where Word gets the
list of fonts from.

Sometimes, (very rarely) the Microsoft Office X Font Cache file corrupts:
simply delete it and then reboot: it will rebuild itself when the OS X one
does.
