Installing Canvas for OneNote fails after selecting a notebook

During the installation of Canvas for OneNote and after selecting the
notebook as requested the Canvas fails with the message invalid characters in
the path.

What can be done to solve this?

Is there a fix available?

There are a few messages on there about the error you report, and they all
seem to be about the non-support in this early experimental software for
networked Notebooks. Is the notebook you're trying to open perchance on a
network area? What is the path to the Notebook as reported in OneNote?
