Hope someone can help me here.
We have a mixed Office Installation environment between Office 2000 and
Office 2003. They total about 400 Installations. We are in the process of
planning the full upgrade of all Office 2000 Installation to Office 2003 this
coming summer.
The problem I am running into is when I do a manual installation of 2003 I
am having problems.
We have run the installations using an administrative install point for both
2000 and 2003 with respective MST files.
The MST files are set as such for the applications.
Install Word
Install on 1st use for the rest of the applications.
The following process has triggered this error is as follows
I manually uninstall Office 2000
Then use ork tools for 2003 for removal of any other files left behind
Then I run the Office 2003 installation with a MST
The Installation finishes with no problems, the user is able to log into
their XP machine with no problem. They are able to open Word.
Now this is where the fun begins. I open Excel under the users login and an
installer starts it completes and brings up Excel. I close Excel and re-open
Excel and the Installer starts all over again. Every time I try to use an
Office Suite application other than Word the installer starts and completes
and I am able to use the application then when I close and re-open the
application it starts all over again.
Now the only Office Suite Application that does not work at all is Outlook
it just tries to install when started the progress bar gets only so far and
rolls back and the application tells me to re-install. I do that and it does
the same thing over and over again.
The only fix that I have been able to come up with is on the pc that I
upgraded I have to rename the users profile folder to something else let XP
create a new one and Office 2003 works great. I would like to avoid doing
this for over 200 users.
I appreciate any help anyone may possibly give me.
