The retail version of Office 2003 EULA says:
"1.1 Installation and use. You may:
(a) install and use a copy of the Software on one personal computer or
other device; and
(b) install an additional copy of the Software on a second, portable
device for the exclusive use of the primary
user of the first copy of the Software. "
Basically that means that you can only install it on one computer at a time
with a second copy on a portable computer that only the primary computer
user uses.
Further it states:
"14. SOFTWARE TRANSFER. Internal. You may transfer your copy of the
Software to a different device. After
the transfer, you must completely remove the Software from the former
device."
The Home and Student version allows for three installs on computers within
the same household but not used for commercial purposes of any kind.
The OEM version allows only install onto one computer and it can't be
transferred to any other computer. The license to use dies with the
original computer.
