To add to Van's answer, here is an article that I just came across recently:
Change the Local Installation Source After the Installation
http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/2003/journ/LISTool.htm
If you can spare the disk space, this might be a very useful thing to do. It means you won't get
that really annoying prompt to insert your Office Setup disk when you repair, install new
features or patch Office with a service pack.

You should be able to. After all, CDs and hard-disks are simply storage
media.
Alsi, for big network, network admin often use "network" installation of
software, meaning software being installed on work-stations with the server
as the source.
BTW, this newsgroup is for Microsoft Access (a database application), not
eneral computer "access". If you needs assitance to install Office, post to
the appropriate newsgroup for Office.

Does anyone know if it is possible to copy the contents of the office cd to the hard drive and
then install the program. I have a notebook without a
cd drive and so I was going to network it and transfer the contents of the cd directly to the
hard drive. Any suggestions?
